This is an annual national celebration held on the first Saturday of July at the premises of the
South West Regional Delegation of Agriculture and Rural Development, Buea. It recognizes the
Cooperative movement’s commitment to democratic ownership, social justice, and inclusive
development. The day is jointly promoted by the International Cooperative Alliance and the
United Nations. The event is built around highlighting how democratic,
people-centered enterprises make a difference globally, ( including South West Region) where
local Credit Unions, agricultural Cooperatives, and worker-owned businesses host workshops,
festivals and open-door days, Cooperatives engage with local governments and civil society to
showcase how to their economic models address community needs, with the UN’s sustainable
Development Goals, and the International Cooperative Alliance releases official toolkits, logos,
and messaging that Cooperatives use to spread awareness and promote their socio-economic

(Tacofacoop-bod) Bakebe Village has been actively taking part or participating regularly in Buea
since the creation in 2021 to help design its promotional materials for its own Cooperative's
celebration with at least two members.
