PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TO MEMBERS AND NO-MEMBERS OF TACOFACOOP-BOD.

Historically dependent on farming locally in cash crops like cocoa and oil palm for revenue, Tacofacoop-bod sought to diversify its revenue streams by developing other activities/sectors have been part of its broader strategy to reduce reliance on poorly fermented cocoa beans and drying on the ground and at times on the road sides that means attracting stray pets or contaminated ingredients for poor quality. Tacofacoop-bod also aims to provide a reliable market for its members and other local farmers, as outdated farms limit the local farmers’competitiveness individually in the market, with the cocoa prices fluctuating. It aims to negotiate prices on behalf of its members, enhance local supply chain, and provide sustainable jobs, and fosters economic resilience. While Upper Banyang Sub Division in the South West Region of Cameroon produces abundant cocoa beans (a cocoa basin area), the local farmers struggle with their production in most of the remote villages as road infrastructure holds its supply to the market. Most of the local farmers who inherited old farms from their parents and ancestral fathers have little or no knowledge of agricultural practices due to the remoteness, societal problems and neglect of the government which has given room to Licensed Buying Agents (LBAs) or middlemen in the buying and selling of raw cocoa beans cheaply for export, leaving the local farmers miserable and indebtedness as a result of exploitative means. Tacofacoop-bod shall be very active to provide farm inputs and means of transportation of its members produce in an orderly and organised system to promote and develop the cocoa sector due to the marginalized structure of the government, since cocoa production has become the backbone product in Upper Banyang Sub Division, as can be seen by buyers from neighbouring Nigeria rush in with cash to buy cheaply with no data based from hungry local farmers needing quick money to sustain their livelihoods, while Cameroon National Cocoa Board production continues to fall.
